RAVI K. BAJAJ, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Bajaj is an interventional cardiologist who co-founded Heartland Cardiology in 1994. He is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He moved to Wichita from India at the age of 9 and attended school locally at Southeast High School and Wichita State University. His internal medicine training was at the University of North Carolina and his cardiology training was at the University of Alabama, where he was involved in some of the pioneering work on coronary stents. In addition to his interventional cardiology practice, he serves as Chairman of the Cardiology Executive Committee at Wesley Medical Center. He has been selected to the Wichita’s Best Physicians list for the past four years. He is the past Medical Director of the Wesley Cardiovascular Center and is the past President of the American Heart Association. He is a recognized teacher and researcher and has presented at local and national cardiology meetings. When not at work, Dr. Ravi likes doing “anything outdoors.” He enjoys running, bicycling, swimming and doing triathlons. His greatest love is spending time with his wife and playing with his two children. |

HUSAM BAKDASH, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Bakdash is Board-Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology. He joined Heartland Cardiology in August 2008. He received his Internal Medicine residency training at St. Louis University and his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. He is a clinical assistant professor at University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. He serves as the Chair of Cardiology at Via Christi Hospitals. He performs heart catheterizations, transesophageal echocardiography, permanent pacemaker implantations, and all types of stress tests. He has a special interest in preventive cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging. Dr. Bakdash enjoys spending his free time with his wife and four children.

ASSEM FARHAT, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Farhat is an interventional cardiologist who co-founded Heartland Cardiology in 1994. He received his Medical Doctorate degree from Damascus University, graduating in the top ten. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology at the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, where he was the recipient of the prestigious American Heart Association-Ohio Chapter’s Grant-In-Aid and Research Fellowship awards. Dr. Farhat is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology and Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine where he twice received “Teacher of the Year” award. He was selected in Wichita Business Journal’s “Best Doctors in Cardiovascular Disease” the last two years. Dr. Farhat serves as the President of Heartland Cardiology and the Medical Director of Echocardiography and Cardiac Rehabilitation at Wesley Medical Center. Dr. Farhat has served as assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. He loves the outdoors and enjoys sports, hiking and traveling with his family.

HUSSAM FARHOUD, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I., C.C.D.S.
Dr. Farhoud is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Nuclear Cardiology. He joined Heartland Cardiology in April 2013. He is a certified Cardiac Device Specialist by Heart Rhythm Society. He is also a Heart Failure/Cardiac Transplant Specialist. Dr. Farhoud graduated from medical school at Aleppo University in Syria. He was awarded a scholarship for additional training at Innsbruck University, Innsbruck Austria. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. He completed General Cardiology, Interventional (Coronary and Peripheral Vascular), Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant, and Nuclear Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center where he served as a faculty member during his last year of fellowship. Dr. Farhoud is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is the former Heart Failure Program Director and the Heart Transplant Cardiologist at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, and the former President of Medical Staff at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. He has extensive research experience in Heart Failure, Immunosuppression Therapy and Left Ventricular Assist Device. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Dr. Farhoud is married and has three children.

WASSIM H. SHAHEEN, M.D.
Dr. Shaheen is an interventional cardiologist who joined Heartland Cardiology in July 2006. He received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut. His internal medicine residency was at the University of Kansas, where he was honored as Chief Resident. After completing his cardiology fellowship at the University of Iowa (where he was Chief Fellow), he returned to Wichita in 2005. He is Board-Certified in Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. In addition to maintaining a busy practice, Dr. Shaheen has co-authored several journal articles. He was awarded a research grant for a two-year focused study on atherosclerosis. Dr. Shaheen has a passion for teaching and training future health professionals. He is Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Via Christi, and is also the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Labs at Wesley and the VA hospitals. Dr. Shaheen and his wife, Lisa Le (a physician at the KU School of Medicine), have three children Jad, Lana and Gabriella.

GHIYATH TABBAL, M.D., F.H.R.S.
Dr. Tabbal is an Electrophysiology Cardiologist who joined Heartland Cardiology in July 2010. He is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. His training started at Mayo Clinic where he had general surgery training. His internal medicine training was at the University of Minnesota and his cardiology and electrophysiology training was at the University of Louisville. Dr. Tabbal serves as the medical Director of the Wesley Electrophysiology Laboratory. Dr. Tabbal has been a pioneer in advancing the electrophysiology field in the area and bringing the newest technology and cardiac devices to Wichita. Dr. Tabbal enjoys the outdoors, bicycling and swimming. His greatest love is spending time with his wife and playing with his three children.
